Phased deployment

Phased deployment planning for district energy networks

Networks are never built in one go. Model the build as it will actually happen — a first cluster, then an extension, then the next district — and see the cash, capacity and carbon path of every stage.

Build the network in stages, not in separate files

Assign buildings and pipe sections to phases, each with its own start year. Our software keeps one coherent hydraulic and financial model across all of them, so phase three is checked against phase one rather than modelled from scratch.

Size for stage one, ready for stage five

Check what today's mains and generation still hold when the last phase connects, and find the few segments where oversizing now saves reopening the trench later. The trade-off is quantified, not argued.

Model realistic connection ramp-ups

Not every building signs on day one. Apply connection rates by phase and by building type and watch load, revenue and network utilisation follow — the assumption that most often decides whether a project is bankable.

See the capital and carbon path year by year

CAPEX, OPEX, revenue, emissions avoided and utilisation on one timeline, per phase — the view an investment committee or a municipal council needs before it releases the next tranche.

  • We needed a solution that could support our design decisions and optimize projects from the ground up. We're finally able to do just that—saving time, improving accuracy, and ensuring we make the best possible impact with each project.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I model the extension of an existing network?

Yes. Import the existing network as the first phase, with its real pipe dimensions and sources, then plan extensions on top of it.

  • Can different phases use different energy sources?

Yes. A gas peaker today and a geothermal field in phase three is a normal case, including the decommissioning of the interim plant.

  • Can I export the phasing plan?

Yes. Per-phase quantities, costs and KPIs export to Excel, and the maps and charts drop into the generated report.
