Automatic pipe dimensioning
Size every pipe from the demand it actually serves
Diameters are derived from the aggregated demand downstream of each segment, not from rules of thumb. Every branch gets a diameter that respects your velocity and pressure-gradient limits, so you avoid the oversizing that inflates CAPEX and the undersizing that starves the far end of the network. Recalculate the full set in seconds after any change to the layout or the connected buildings.

Looped & meshed networks
Dimension looped networks, not just tree layouts
Rings and meshes don't have a single flow path, which is why most sizing workflows quietly assume a branched network. Tessa runs a dedicated optimisation for looped topologies, resolving flow distribution around the loop before assigning diameters — so you can design for redundancy and multiple feed-in points without leaving the platform.

Mass flow & velocity
See the mass flow in every segment
The solver returns mass flow and flow velocity pipe by pipe, for the design condition and for the operating points you care about. Spot the segments running near their velocity limit, the branches carrying almost nothing, and the places where a diameter change pays for itself.
Pressure analysis
Guarantee the pressure your substations need
Set the differential pressure required across each substation and across the energy centre, pick the node that holds the static pressure, and Tessa solves the full pressure profile of supply and return. You immediately see which consumer is critical, where the pressure envelope is breached, and how much head the pumps have to deliver to serve the worst-served building on the network.
We needed a solution that could support our design decisions and optimize projects from the ground up. We're finally able to do just that—saving time, improving accuracy, and ensuring we make the best possible impact with each project.

Frequently asked questions
Can it simulate looped and meshed networks?
Yes. Loops, meshes and multiple feed-in points are handled directly: the flow distribution around each loop is resolved before diameters are assigned, so you never have to reduce the network to a tree first.
Do I have to size the pipes before running a simulation?
No. Diameters are derived from the demand downstream of each segment against your velocity and pressure-gradient limits, and any of them can be overridden before you simulate.
What does a simulation return?
Mass flow and velocity segment by segment, the supply and return pressure profile, temperatures and heat losses, and the pump head needed to serve the critical consumer — for the design condition and for any operating point you set.
